I know this is off-topic of this blog, but I’m posting it anyways because I want to reveal the truth. Note that I’m not Russia or Georgian (heck, I’m asian) and don’t have any assets over there either.

For those of you who don’t know, there’s been a “war” of sorts between Russia, South Ossetia, and Georgia.

Essentially the gist of the war:
-Georgia attacks South Ossetia (which is comprised of mostly Russian citizens). Georgia kills ~1000 civilians and Russian peacekeepers.
-Russia attacks back
-Georgia complains that they’re being invaded by big bad Russia and wants the US and the rest of the world to stop Russia (from retaliating on a conflict Georgia initiated)

So what makes this different from any other war?

Well, for starters, Georgia initiated military conflict. When their opponent struck back, they’re claiming foul.

Example for explanation
It’s like Guy A (Georgia) goes up to guy B (South Ossetia) on the street, hits him in the head from behind and kicks him in the groin twice, then runs away. Guy C (Russia) who’s good friends with guy A chases after Guy B (Georgia) to give him a well-deserved beating. BUT Guy A runs to the police (rest of the world) saying Guy C (Russia) is trying to punch him and should be arrested. It doesn’t matter that guy C is a bigger guy, it’s still Guy A (Georgia) at fault for striking an innocent guy (Guy B).

But Georgia says they want a ceasefire?
Well duh. Georgia already got what they wanted (slaughtering 1000 civilians in South Ossetia, which happen to be mostly Russian citizens). Back to the guy on the street example, it’s like throwing the first two punches, then saying “let’s not fight” so the guy doesn’t retaliate. They started a conflict they can’t win, so they want it to stop before they get hit harder.

What’s the conspiracy in this?
Check out Google News. The stories are titled “Russian Attack”, “Russian troops move toward Georgia town”, “Georgia Files Suit Against Russia, Charging Racial Discrimination”, etc. The foreign aid stories are essentially of two types: “Russia sending humanitarian aid to South Ossetia” or “(some country/organization) sending humanitarian aid to Georgia”. Why is it that the AGRESSORS are being sent aid, while the VICTIMS (the ones who got attacked first), are only being sent aid by Russia, which the western media makes out to be the agressors?

Why’s the world so against Russia for defending its people, but supporting of Georgia for killing 1000 civilians?
Well, I have a few theories.
First, people like the support the “little guy”. Even if in this case the little guy started the conflict by attacking the even littler guy.
Secondly, people who don’t like Russia is using this as an excuse to show “how bad Russia is”, especially at a publicity centred time like the Olympics.

Conclusion
Don’t be a tool. Don’t believe just the headlines. Make your own decisions and use your own judgment.

So why’s this in a relationship-oriented blog?
Yes, this is a relationship-oriented blog. This story is a lesson to tell you that what society tells you to be true isn’t always true. Forget that crap about “buy her dinners and she’ll like you” or “send her flowers and she’ll fall in love”. Be a real man. How? Stay tuned to find out :)
